When multiple transcripts are present for a gene included in a GenBank file, Mutation Surveyor will by default select the transcript that results in the largest protein.
Not sure which transcript is being used in the project? Here are 2 quick ways to find out.
1. Verify in the Custom Report
Quickly check the information reported in the Custom Report by navigating to the Reports menu and selecting Custom Report. Click the Default button at the bottom of the settings dialog and click OK to generate the report. The transcript information for each reported gene will be displayed under the RNA Accession column.
2. Utilize Advanced GBK File Editor Tool
Located under the Tools menu, the Advanced GBK File Editor can be used to view and edit GenBank files. Once the GenBank file is loaded, the gene and any associated transcript information will be displayed in the left browser pane. The transcript accession number with the check mark next to it will be the one applied by the software when loaded into a project.
