EAccessViolation errors are typically due to memory or permission related issues.
If the error is due to memory
Depending on your computer specifications (such as available RAM), running GeneMarker while performing computer updates or running multiple software programs at the same time as GeneMarker can cause memory issues, since each software application will be competing for the available RAM on the computer. We recommend closing any applications that don't need to run at the same time as GeneMarker. If the software is not regularly closed when not in use, this can also cause issues.
If the error is due to permissions
Here are Instructions for Granting Permissions to the GeneMarker Program Installation Folder:
Default location for the program folder is
C:\Program Files (x86)\SoftGenetics\GeneMarker\Version#\
- Right-click the correct version folder within the C:\Program Files (x86)\SoftGenetics\GeneMarker\ folder as shown below
Select Properties
- Go to the Security tab, click the Edit button in the center
- Click the check box to Allow Full Control
- Click the Apply button to apply the changes and restart the software
This should help give the software full read/write/modify permissions for GeneMarker's files.
Additional Permissions:
If the problem persists, open GeneMarker and go to View -> Preferences -> Others tab and confirm the file paths at the bottom of that screen as shown below.
