The relationship testing database can hold hundreds of thousands of profiles, but for every 100,000 profiles, the search time can increase by around one minute. If the searches are going slowly, you may want to archive your database and start fresh.
The database is stored locally on your computer. The default location is C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\SoftGenetics\GeneMarker_HID but you may want to open the software and go to View, Preferences, Others tab, and confirm that this is the pathway your lab is using by checking the Others field:
You can archive the relationship testing database file (GeneDB.db) by closing the software and navigating to the location of the file. You should either change the name of the file (perhaps by adding the appropriate date range) or move it to a new location.
The next time you open the software, a new, blank GeneDB.db file will be created. If you ever want to use the old database again, you would just have to change the name of the current database file or move it and then change the old database file name back to GeneDB.db.
